Job Summary

We are looking for a Senior Policy Advisor on a fixed term contract until July 2027 to support the delivery of the BFI’s policy agenda across its roles as a cultural charity, National Lottery distributor and the UK Government’s lead body for film and the moving image.

Job Description

To work with Policy & Public Affairs to develop and deliver policy positions which support the work of the BFI as well as the wider screen sectors

To lead on the preparation and evidencing of proposals in key policy areas ahead of Spending Review 2027, working closely with internal and external stakeholders

To lead on the development of BFI responses to Government policy consultations and Parliamentary inquiries on relevant areas

To develop strong collaborative relationships with contacts across Government departments and devolved governments, as well as other key stakeholders in the public and private sector.

To manage the coordination and drafting of briefings & correspondence responses for Chair/CEO/DCEO and others as relevant regarding key policy issues, or ahead of meetings with senior stakeholders

To lead preparations for monthly and quarterly meetings with the BFI’s sponsor team at DCMS

To help ensure the BFI provides DCMS with policy information, advice and guidance necessary to fulfil our duties as an Arm’s Length Body of Government

Job Requirements

Experience of working in a policymaking, government or regulatory environments or equivalent

An understanding of the UK screen sector and the wider cultural and creative industries

Demonstrable experience of building and delivering key evidence-based policy positions, and advocating for them with a wide range of stakeholder

Experience of developing and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
