Job Summary

Fixed Term Contract: until 31 March 2027 We are looking for a Project Manager to lead the end-to-end delivery of a high-profile, time-critical programme to decant, refit, and recant museum collections storage to contemporary standards.

Job Description

Acting as the central project lead, the postholder will design delivery plans, coordinate multiple workstreams and timelines, and manage risks, stakeholders, and resources to ensure successful delivery. While working closely with curatorial and collections specialists, the role requires a strong working knowledge of museum standards. This is a senior, delivery-focused role requiring confident leadership, onboarding and clear design and delegation, excellent planning, and the ability to operate effectively with a compacted timeline.

Job Requirements

We are looking for candidates who have:

Proven experience in project or programme management, delivering complex, time-bound projects

Experience coordinating multiple stakeholders, workstreams, and external suppliers in a high-pressure environment

Demonstrable experience of risk management, delivery planning, and programme governance

Experience of financial forecasting, tracking, procurement processes, and supplier management

Working knowledge of museum, gallery, or heritage sector standards relating to collections care, transport, and storage

Job Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

Lead the overall project management of the collections decant and refit project, coordinating multiple interdependent workstreams

Design and implement project plans, timelines, workflows, and delivery structures within a compressed timeframe

Act as the central point of coordination across internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders

Proactive financial oversight of the programme, ensuring accurate forecasting, tight cost control, and delivery within agreed budget while maintaining quality and value for money

Manage project risks, issues, and dependencies, ensuring timely mitigation and escalation.
