Job Description

We are looking for a Community Outreach Coordinator to help us develop and deliver a new programme of activity across Salford, Trafford and Stockport. This is an exciting opportunity to work with communities beyond our Manchester city-centre home, developing meaningful relationships with local organisations, venues and community groups, and exploring how contemporary art and creative activity can support connection, participation and exchange.

We recognise that not everyone is able to travel into Manchester city centre to access cultural activity. This programme is about meeting people where they are, working with existing networks and creating opportunities in local libraries, leisure centres and community spaces. The Community Outreach Coordinator will play a key role in researching and identifying potential partners and stakeholders, developing these relationships and shaping the programme in response to local contexts and community interests. The role will involve a balance of relationship-building, event planning and management, and hands-on delivery, working independently as well as alongside esea contemporary’s team, artists and creative practitioners.

We are looking for someone who is genuinely interested in working with communities and who can approach this work with openness, sensitivity and curiosity. We are particularly interested in hearing from people who can build trust, listen carefully and work collaboratively, rather than simply delivering a pre-existing programme.

This role involves occasional travel across Salford, Trafford and Stockport, as well as regular check-ins at esea contemporary in Manchester. The role is offered as a part-time employment position, working approximately 2-3 days per week. We recognise that the right person may have an established freelance practice or other professional commitments, and we are open to discussing a suitable working arrangement with the successful candidate.

Job Requirements

We are looking for someone who is community-minded, collaborative and confident working both independently and collaboratively. You will have 3 to 5 years of relevant experience developing relationships with communities and delivering creative, cultural or engagement activity, and be comfortable working across different settings and with people from a range of backgrounds.

– Experience of developing and delivering community engagement or participatory programmes and events. – The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with community groups, organisations and local partners, including where no existing relationship is in place. – Experience working in the arts and cultural sector. – Experience of managing project budgets and monitoring expenditure. – Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage your own workload and priorities. – The confidence to work independently while maintaining clear communication with colleagues and…

Job Responsibilities

– Develop relationships with community organisations, local groups, venues and other partners across Salford, Trafford and Stockport. – Identify opportunities for meaningful collaboration and co-create activity that responds to the interests and needs of local communities. – Coordinate and deliver activity across the esea ArtClub, Low-Carbon Breakfast Club and multi-site Lunar New Year programmes. – Facilitate events independently and work with artists, facilitators and practitioners commissioned by esea contemporary. – Support the planning, coordination and delivery of accessible, welcoming and inclusive public programmes. – Work closely with esea contemporary’s Communications team to support audience development, outreach and promotion, including contributing to copy, marketing materials and social media content. – Manage allocated project budgets responsibly…
