Job Summary

We are seeking a new CEO/Artistic Director to help shape the future of Entelechy Arts. This is an opportunity to work with our members, our team, our board and our community of artists to help drive our ambitions forward.

Job Description

We live in a complex, challenging, and unjust world and we wish to be “led by those who most know these systems” (Aurora Levins Morales ). This means that Entelechy Arts wants the people that run the organisation to have direct experience of the challenges our community face.

This role will require passion for social justice and advocacy for many of the most marginalised people in our society. If you self-define as d/Deaf or Disabled and have lived experience of the challenges we help people to overcome, then please get in touch to talk more.

We will be flexible around your needs and access requirements and will build a working structure and culture around you, including reshaping the working week.

We welcome applications from single candidates looking to fill the role as a single CEO/AD but we also welcome applications for the role proposing an alternative leadership model. This might include (but not be limited to): a job-share arrangement looking to apply as Co-CEOs; a CEO with a different approach to distributing artistic leadership amongst our community; a model new to us that we can discuss in the interview process.

Prospective candidates will need to have: A deep understanding of and advocacy for the role that creativity can play in transforming people’s lives. Ability to lead a core team of 9 staff (5 f.t.e.) and key freelancers. Energy for fundraising, identifying funding opportunities and finding ways to generate new sources of income. Enthusiasm for working with and reporting to a diverse board of trustees and wide range of funders. Knowledge of the community arts or creative health worlds, and drive to build relationships with other arts organisations, charities, and service providers. The desire to build confidence (their own and the team’s) and hold overall responsibility for all aspects of the organisation and its representation externally.
