Composed in 1978, the classic Dickens tale of Scrooge and the Spirits of Christmas is given the opera treatment by Thea Musgrave (b. 1928), and brought to life at the Laban Theatre this December.
Legendary Scottish-American composer Musgrave has a career spanning 70 years and continues to maintain an active composing schedule. She is a master of the operatic genre, having composed ten stage works, and is known for her skilled orchestration and boundary-pushing integration of
drama with instrumental music.
