Nitin Sawhney: BREXIT – A rational anthem for a national tantrum

Reflect on the highs and lows of Brexit in a new work by Sawhney, performed by him, members of his band, the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain and singers from London Contemporary Voices.

In this new commission British Indian musician Sawhney considers the state of the nation, focusing on all of its modern day characteristics of multi-culturalism, diversity and openness. Using his findings from a tour of UK towns and cities, Sawhney will showcase a new anthem that looks away from the past and truly reflects our current society – both in its lyrics and music. The piece will fittingly be brought to life by the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain (NYO) – those who will be shaping the society of tomorrow.

Nitin Sawhney has had a rich and varied career working as a producer, songwriter and composer for albums, film, television, theatre and dance and was the recipient of the Ivor Novello Lifetime Achievement award in 2017. The NYO is an orchestra made up of the best teenage musicians playing in Great Britain today.
