Maternal Instincts: Cilea’s Rosa Mamai, Verdi’s Amelia and the mother in opera

Join us and a brilliant panel for a discussion about the depiction of mothers on stage.

From Un ballo in maschera and L’arlesiana to Strauss and Sondheim, Dr Susan Rutherford of the University of Manchester, Professor Martin Butler of the University of Sussex, David Benedict, Anna Picard and BBC Radio 3’s Donald Macleod investigate mothers good, bad and ambiguous.

This event is free but you must reserve your ticket in advance. Tickets include a complimentary drink.
