Femmes fatales: Manon Lescaut and her sisters

Ahead of her debut production of Manon Lescaut, director Karolina Sofulak joins the panel to discuss Puccini's opera and difficult women.

The first femme fatale of French literature, Abbé Prévost’s pleasure-loving anti-heroine inspired composers, poets and film-makers over more than 250 years. Directors Karolina Sofulak and Rodula Gaitanou, BBC Radio 3’s Donald Macleod, OHP’s Anna Picard and the feminist commentator Julie Bindel discuss Puccini’s first great soprano role, difficult women and opera.
