BBC Radio 3’s Late Junction continues its first festival with this genre-defying evening of live music, featuring O Yama O, CURL and This Is Not This Heat and a post-show DJ set from Carla dal Forno.
It's a lineup that animates what the radio show does best; a programme unified by a shared sense of artistic adventure. Headlining is This Is Not This Heat, the pioneering cult band led by Charles Hayward and Charles Bullen. There's also CURL, the collective featuring Mica Levi, Coby Sey and Brother May,among others. Opening is O Yama O, the musical project formed by London-based visual artists Rie Nakajima and Keiko Yamamoto, joined by David Cunningham. Ending the night is a DJ set from post-punk songwriter and NTS DJ Carla dal Forno.
Late Junction is the flagship experimental music programme on BBC Radio 3 and BBC Sounds, with everything from Russian sound art to free jazz and Chicago footwork. The festival will feature live versions of the programme’s Collaboration Session, plus a live Late Junction Mixtape for the gathered audience.
