The following persons can take part in the 42nd Warsaw International Film Festival:

– in the competition sections, films whose first public screening took place on 1 January 2026 or later;

– films that have not been previously distributed or publicly screened in Poland;

– films that have not previously been shown on television available in Poland, including foreign language channels;

– films that were not previously available on the Internet, including on widely available foreign platforms;

– Polish films that have not had public screenings in Poland, with the exception of the Gdynia Film Festival;

Films submitted to the Best Polish Short Films section may be presented at other film events in Poland and abroad before the WIFF.

In the competition sections, priority is given to world, international, and European premieres. The premiere rules do not apply to films submitted to the Best Polish Short Films, Confrontations, or accompanying events: Cinema in the Clouds, and BOOM Generation.

NOTE: films in post-production (with working sound, before color correction, and even at the initial editing stage) that will be completed before the 42nd WMFF can be submitted for selection.
