Severe under-funding at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow has led to a freeze of recruitment for students on its multi-disciplinary course in Contemporary Performance Practice (CPP).

It’s the only course of its kind in Scotland, arguably even in Europe, and many are upset by the news.

This innovative four year degree, which has been running for eleven years, aims to teach its drama students original and inventive ways of working in the performing arts sector by educating them in ways to set up their own practice and how to find their own path after they graduate. Showing students the power of performance, and encouraging community-based work at the academy has proven extremely popular and has helped to create a tight-knit community of developing artists within Glasgow.
