Local and international artists are invited to apply for a residency at Rumpueng, a creative hub located in Chiang Mai in Thailand. This collaborative residency aims to provide artists with the time and resources to create new work, exhibitions, public events and workshops.
Artists from all mediums are welcome, so long as they are willing to use a collaborative approach to their work. With a focus on mutual learning and participation, this residency hopes to bridge the gap between the understanding of two different cultures and to provide a great artistic benefit to the local community.
Residencies take place in June/July this year and must last for at least one month. All successful residents will be provided with help and support during the duration of their stay, as well as private accommodation, meals, use of a bicycle or motorbike and a mentor, guide and translator.
Importantly, residents will also be provided with workshop opportunities, an exhibition at Rumpueng Art Space and a place in the Surface Arts annual touring exhibition.
Residency applications will need to include an outline proposal explaining their previous collaborative activities, an explanation of how they intend to spend their time during the residency (including the month they would like to complete the residency in) and a CV.
The residency fee is 30,000 baht per resident, which equates to approximately $AU993.
Surface Arts is a UK-based organisation which aims to provide opportunities for artists situated within public spaces.
