Jacques Tardi refuses Legion D’Honneur

The highest honour presented to civilians in France has been turned down by renowned cartoonist Jacques Tardi.

 Anti-war cartoonist Jacques Tardi has an impressive list of awards for his work but he will not be adding to them the coveted Legion D’Honneur.

The cartoonist, who is famous  for his work about the horrors faced by soldiers in both World Wars, said he would not accept France’s highest honour  because it was in the gift of the government.
