Children theatre day celebrated in Africa

Zimbabwe arts education organisation CHIPAWO is hosting a series of special events to celebrate theatre for children and young people.

World Day of Theatre for Children and Young People is just around the corner and one group is determined to make the most of this special occasion. CHIPAWO, a renowned arts education organisation based in Zimbabwe, will be honoring this event with several theatrical performances aimed at children.

Plays include Wedding Day, Climate Change and Muchena and Nhengure, all of which were created for the promotion of the Africa Charter for Children. Messages by the President of the International Association of Theatre for Children and Young People (ASSITEJ), Yvette Hardie, will also be read on the day, while a number of guest groups and members of the Zimbabwe Association of Theatre for Children and Young People (ZATCP) will participate in short plays.
