In an effort to save bookstores French MPs have voted in favour of a bill that will stop companies from offering free deliveries on books discounted by more than 5%.

The bill has been formulated to assist bookstores that are unable to compete with online retail sales, and will prevent companies from offering free delivery with discounts of up to 5%, which is already the maximum discount permitted under French law.
