Whiteley sells for $3,927,272 at last night’s Menzies Art Brand auction in Melbourne making it the second highest amount paid

Brett Whiteley’s painting The Armchair, Lot 42 in last night’s Menzies Art Brands Auction (31 October) in Melbourne, sold for a stunning $3,927,272 (including buyer’s Premium). Sitting within its estimate, it was a new record for the artist.
