Broadway will dim its lights for one minute at 7.45pm on Friday in tribute to Stritch, whose career began in the 1940s.

Despite numerous film and television credits, including playing the overbearing mother of Alec Baldwin’s character Jack Donaghy on 30 Rock and minor roles in several Woody Allen films, she was best known for her performances on Broadway and London’s West End in plays, musicals, and cabaret.
