Tax office to cut taxi allowance

The HMRC is proposing to abolish tax allowances for late night taxis to and from work. If allowed to go through, any changes will impact on the incomes of workers in theatre, live events, film and broadcasting, many of whom rely on taxis due to regular late starts or finishes.

The HMRC is proposing to abolish tax allowances for late night taxis to and from work. If allowed to go through, any changes will impact on the incomes of workers in theatre, live events, film and broadcasting, many of whom rely on taxis due to regular late starts or finishes.

British, Entertainment and Cinematograph and Technical Union (BECTU) will be responding to the proposals and is inviting all affected staff – members or not – to explain how the proposal will affect them.
