Oscar-winning director Jane Campion is returning to the 66th Cannes Film Festival this year, this time to lead the festival’s short film jury. The Piano director is no stranger to Cannes, having previously won two awards at the festival – one for her 1986 short film Peel and the other for her feature-length film The Piano in 1993.

‘Jane is a child of Cannes,’ festival president Gilles Jacob said in a statement. ‘I know this, as it was I who selected her first three short films for the Festival. I am delighted that the love story between Lady Jane and the Festival continues today as she takes on the role of president.’
