It’s been 50 years since the Doctor and his Tardis first appeared on our screens. Marking its incredible achievement as the longest running sci-fi show in all the world, the BBC has unveiled very special plans for the 50th anniversary special – not only will the anniversary episode be broadcast on 3D, but it will also screen in 3D in local cinemas, giving the Doctor his first big screen debut.

Showrunner Steven Moffat has greatly welcomed the news, noting ‘it’s about time’ the show gets to explore the very latest technology.
