James Joyce has done so much for Ireland, you’d think they’d be able to lift a line from his modernist masterpiece Ulysses without making a mistake. Well, apparently not, with the Central Bank of Ireland left red-faced after issuing a commemorative silver €10 coin which features an incorrect line from episode three of the 1922 novel.

If you’re going to misquote a book, you probably don’t want to do it to one as well known as Ulysses, often considered the greatest piece of 20th century literature. You especially don’t want to mint that mistake on 10,000 coins and then charge €46 for it. But that’s what they’ve done according to The Guardian.
