Where once German’s called for it to crash to the ground, now they strive to preserve its remains. Those seeking to keep the Berlin Wall have found an unlikely hero in Germany’s favourite B-grade celebrity David Hasselhoff. ‘The Hoff’ has returned to Germany to support protesters who don’t want to see the longest stretch of the Berlin Wall demolished.

‘I’ve come to lend my support because I believe this is a piece of history,’ Hasselhoff told the gathered crowds. ‘And it’s very important to remember all the people who lost their lives in search of freedom.’
