The name of the latest project by New York and Shanghai-based artist Rutherford Chang really does say it all: We Buy White Albums. Situated in Recess gallery’s Soho space, the project takes the form of a record shop that includes 700 copies of The Beatles White Album. Unlike most record stores; however, the aim of the store isn’t to sell the albums but to purchase more.

So far, all the albums have come from Chang’s personal collection and are marked with a distinct serial number on the bottom of the famous white cover designed by Richard Hamilton for the 1968 double-LP of the album.
