Move over Monopoly, there’s a new currency kid on the block that buys more than Mayfair.

In a move that some will no doubt interpret as a sign of the impending Amazon-sponsored apocalypse, the colossal e-tailer has announced the forging of Amazon coins.

Following in the footsteps of companies like Microsoft and Nintendo, which call their currency ‘Points’, and Facebook Credits, the digitally conjured cash can be spent across Amazon’s network, from its AppStore to any of its traditional sites. Like the Microsoft and Nintendo Points, users front up money for the digital dollars, which are then only to be spent in the online store.
