Society of Authors: Author emergency fund
The Authors’ Contingency fund offers hardship grants to authors in financial difficulty.
It helps writers, illustrators, literary translators, scriptwriters, poets, journalists and others, whose author-related activities make up a substantial amount of their annual income.
Grants range in value from £500 to £2,000 and are designed to meet immediate need.
