Midsummer’s Eve, Sweden. A night when the sun doesn’t set. A night of drinking and dancing. A night to break the rules!
When Miss Julie finds herself alone on her father’s estate, she throws caution to the wind and gate-crashes the servants’ party. Venturing into the servants’ kitchen she finds Katrin, the estate’s cook, and Jean, her father’s footman.
In the sultry heat of that long night, a dangerous game ensues as Miss Julie and Jean seek to break free from the constraints of their respective lives. A game of high stakes that turns into a shifting battle for survival.
August Strindberg’s Miss Julie (1888) a ground-breaking masterpiece that still provokes and shocks audiences today.
