Join the London Performing Academy of Music at Conway Hall for a unique performance of Puccini’s masterwork opera, Turandot.
Starring some of the finest emerging performers from LPMAM’s Opera Studio, the opera will combine the original Italian libretto with characters singing in Mongolian, paying homage to the Mongolian princess Khutulun, reputedly the inspiration for the the opera’s protagonist and nakesame. This will feature a translation used for over a century by the Mongolian Opera Theatres, marking a worldwide premiere.
In Puccini’s most popular opera, the Princess Turandot has sworn no man shall marry her unless he can correctly answer three riddles. Prince Calaf, who has fallen in love with Turandot, solves the riddles, but wants to set the Princess her own challenge. The power and beauty of Turandot’s music gives the orchestra and chorus every opportunity to shine and includes the heroic opera anthem ‘Nessun Dorma’.
This spectacular production will be led and directed by Professors Chiara Angella and Silvio Zanon, international opera stars from the original Italian tradition and tutelage of Luciano Pavarotti, Magda Olivero, and Giuseppe Scandola. The LPMAM Opera Studio performers will be under the baton of Prof. Christian Cimei.
