Introduction to Still-Life Drawing
If you have a little experience in drawing and would like to make your first steps into drawing still-life, or if you just want to find out if still life drawing is for you, then this course is a must.
(If you feel drawing a still life is still a bit daunting then our course introduction to drawing may be right for you)
The first morning we will begin with some exercises in drawing and observation. We will look at ways to establish shape and tone. The tutor will then guide you through setting up your still life whilst taking composition and tonal value (light and dark) into account. In demonstrations you will be shown ways to develop shape and tone, how to build up and push your drawings and materials to make the most of your work.
You will be drawing with graphite and charcoal whereas the main piece will be created in charcoal. We will cover its handling within this course. The tutor will provide personal guidance throughout the course.
