Butterbiggens Prize

Butterbiggens Prize in British Painting

The Butterbiggens Prize is an experiment to see if a Art Foundation can be productive on a micro scale. We provide tiny grants for artists in the form of fast food gift certificates. Like online Galleries, we function as a showcase for contemporary established and emerging artists, in which the selection process will eventually establish its own prestige.  Every month a British painter will be nominated, and receive a small financial award, as well as a temporary exhibition on this website. In the future we may launch more ambitious programming. In addition to the selected painter we would like to publish a shortlist of works which we feel merit attention.

We define British as anyone working or living in the UK or Crown Dependencies , and Painting as broadly as you can justify in the description of your piece.

Micro Fellowship for British Painters, juried by a group of Scottish Art Students.
