Sotheby’s London will present its first Aboriginal Art sale on 10 June, 75 lots spanning more than 200 years. The catalogue calls this a ‘landmark auction…the first to be held by a major auction house outside of Australia.’
Drawn from the important European holdings of the Thomas Vroom Collection, many of the works being offered have been on long-term loan to the AAMU, Museum of Contemporary Aboriginal Art in Utrecht, Netherlands, again touted in the catalogue as ‘the cornerstone’ of their collection.
