THE MAGICAL LIGHT OF THE SCOTTISH WEST COAST.
An exhibition of new paintings by John Lowrie Morrison OBE - Jolomo.
John Lowrie Morrison OBE, who paints under the nom de plume 'Jolomo' is one of Scotland's most popular and successful artists. His work is instantly recognisable, and the brightly coloured landscapes and seascapes of his native west coast, often featuring crofts or beaches painted at dawn or dusk, are a window in to that landscape.
This exhibition includes over 60 striking new pictures and depicts the ever-changing light and colour of the west coast of Scotland. John's expressionist style and vivid high key colour draws on the exceptional colour the west coast of Scotland has to offer in its stunning colourful and rugged landscapes, its ethereal blue seas and peaty vistas. I remember seeing one of John's paintings on the end wall of a dark hallway, it was like a window into a sunny day.
In the 2001 New Year's Honours the artist received an OBE for services to art and charity in Scotland. John and his wife Maureen are Vice Presidents of The Carers Trust. In 2017 he received the Great London Scot Award, a lifetime achievement award celebrating the success of Scots with a connection to London.
Corrymella Scott Gallery is proud and privileged to bring John back to the North East. Corrymella Scott has represented Jolomo since 1998 and has organised London exhibitions for the artist since 2001, including his show in 2005 opened by HRH The Princess Royal.
The artist will donate a percentage of the proceeds from this exhibition to Carers Trust.
