National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain Spring Concert

The 80-strong National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain (NYBB), conducted by Bramwell Tovey, the Grammy award-winning conductor of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, performs a diverse programme of works for brass band.

The concert will feature Philip Cobb (LSO principal trumpet), a former NYBB principal cornet, and Peter Moore ( LSO principal trombone), who was a founding member of the National Children's Brass Band of Great Britain, the sister band to the NYBB. The soloists will perform Denis Wright's Concerto for Cornet, Bramwell Tovey's Lincoln Tunnel Cabaret (trombone) and Joseph Turrin's Fandango (trumpet and trombone.)

The programme will feature the world premiere of Gavin Higgins' concert suite of his award-winning Dark Arteries ballet music, originally commissioned for the Rambert Dance Company in 2015. Other music will include Lucy Pankhurst's Wired, Joseph Horovitz's Ballet for Band and Edward Gregson's Symphony In Two Movements, as well as substantial works by Elgar Howarth, John Ireland and Bramwell Tovey.
