A new artist studio complex has opened in the centre of London; Southwark Studios.
The top quality workspace are in a prime location aimed to meet the urgent needs of people in the creative sector.
London based artists and other creative people have a serious problem: nowhere to work. The February 2010 launch of Southwark Studios, set up by recent art school graduate William Austin (23), aims to solve this problem.
“Like many others, after graduating I wanted to follow my dream of being an artist. However, I couldn’t find anywhere to work, even if I was prepared to travel miles and put up with old and uncomfortable premises,” says William. “So I thought it was time to do something about it.”
Southwark Studios has 47 brand new artist workspaces of various sizes. Each studio has large white walls, a double electrical socket and can come furnished with a table and chair. Every studio has its own electrical meter and is finished to the highest standard. Studios have use of purpose built wash stations that provide a powerful flow of hot and cold water. Unlimited wireless internet is also provided.
Most studios have large openable factory windows with fantastic views of central London. All studios have architect designed professional lighting and no-glow ceramic heaters.
