From fiery debates at Amnesty International to the Wisewords Bookfest at The Women’s Library and the opportunity to speak out at the Apples & Snakes Open Mic Night, Wisewords presents an exciting programme of events and exhibitions with women writers, artists and performers during March for Women’s History Month.

Wisewords Bookfest taking place on Friday 12 and Sataurday 13 March 2pm-10pm each day at The Womens' Library, Old Castle Street E1 7NT, Aldgate East tube. Tickets are £12 per day / £20 for 2 days, individual talks before 5pm £4/£3 concs, after 5pm £6/£5 concs. The Wisewords Bookfest presents two days of thrilling, thoughtful, radical and humorous writing by women authors introducing their latest publications. Come along and spend an enjoyable day with writers reading and discussing their work. Each session lasts one hour with a half hour break in between for refreshments and the opportunity to buy books.

On Friday 12 March the authors will be Tamsin Bradley & Emma Tomalin, writers of Dowry (Zed Books), Kavita Ramdya of Bollywood Weddings (Lexington Books), Dreda Say Mitchell & Claire Seeber on crime writing, Clare Mulley The woman who saved the children (Oneworld Publications), and Kat Banyard launches her new book The Equality Illusion (Faber).

On Saturday 13 March the authors are Joy Howard and six poets from the Grey Hen Press with their new anthology Cracking on, Kia Abdullah new writer with Laura Longrigg, literary agent, Cathi Unsworth & Elizabeth Wilson on writing thrillers, Maggie Gee & Yasmin Alibhai Brown with their memoirs and to round it all off a wonderfully funny session with well known comic and writer Shazia Mirza ‘Columnist of the Year’.
