200 people from Coventry have been involved in a spectacular new Arts project this Easter to celebrate the rebirth of a City centre street.

For more than 16 weeks two hundred local community performers aged between 8 and 65 years old, have been working in Coventry alongside professional artists from Imagineer Productions, the Coventry performance group, Highly Sprung and the internationally acclaimed pyrotechnic company, The World Famous, to produce an amazing spectacle to celebrate the regeneration of one of the city’s oldest and most culturally diverse streets, Far Gosford Street.

For one night only on Easter Saturday 3 April at 8pm an incredible new site specific production, Ostara will be performed there involving drummers, dancers, actors, puppets, music, fire, elaborate costumes, special effects and pyrotechnics.

Ostara will tell the story of the fascinating history of this area which stretches back thousands of years and of some of the characters who have breathed life into its streets through the centuries. The young Birmingham writer, Tanisjah Matthews has worked with the local community to research Far Gosford Street’s history and in Ostara she has now weaved fact and fiction together to create a rich tapestry bringing many different art forms together to tell this history and to celebrate the coming of the Spring Equinox.
