There will be introductions to selected films at QUAD in April.
Green Zone (15) will be introduced by Simon Kinnear, Film Critic for Total Film Magazine, on Wednesday 14th April at 8:45pm. Green Zone (15) is an electrifying thriller starring Matt Damon as US Army officer on the hunt for missing Weapons Of Mass Destruction. The film can be seen at UAD Friday 9th until Monday 12th April, and on Wednesday 14th April and Thursday 15th April.
Oil City Confidential (PG) will be introduced on Friday 16th April at 8:30pm by Nick Wray, author of the novel A Tribute To Zed Beddington, set in the British Blues Scene. Oil City Confidential is director Julien Temple’s last film in his trilogy on British music of the 1970’s. Following on from The Filth & The Fury and The Future Is Written, Oil City Confidential focuses on the Canvey Island band Dr. Feelgood. The film can be seen at QUAD from Friday 16th & Saturday 17th April.
Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho (15) will be introduced by Darrell Buxton, cult film historian, on Friday 23rd April at 6:10pm. Psycho has been re-released in a new digital print to mark the 50th anniversary of it’s original release. The film can be seen at QUAD from Friday 23rd until Sunday 25th April.
QUAD is also screening a selection of classic Hitchcock films in The Trouble With Alfred season, including: Rope (PG)(Saturday 10th & Thursday 15th April) and The Trouble With Harry (PG) (Sunday 18th & Thursday 22nd April).
The final film in the season, Double Take (cert tbc) a new film which uses archive footage of Alfred Hitchcock in a tale of intrigue, personal paranoia and deception. Written by best selling British novelist Tom McCarthy, Double Take is set against the backdrop of the Cold War, Alfred Hitchcock is called from the set of The Birds and confronted by his double who claims to be the ‘real’ Hitchcock. The film can be seen in QUAD Monday 26th, Wednesday 28th and Thursday 29th April.
Garbage Warrior (15) will be introduced on Saturday 24th April at 7:30pm by Russell Davison, Damon Hague, G-Man and Amit Zala, the founder members of ‘Sustainable Support’, a local group formed in the wake of the Haiti disaster. Garbage Warrior is the story of maverick American architect Michael Reynolds and his attempts to create sustainable homes in parts of the world devastated by tsunamis and hurricanes.
Cinema ticket prices are £6.50 full price, £5.00 concessions.
