MEDIA RELEASE COURTESY OF: Green TV
Green TV will soon be entering its next phase, bringing on board more schools to participate in this exciting large scale innovative environmental learning programme.

Green TV is a three year Heritage Lottery funded (HLF) programme of environmental engagement and learning through the arts, engaging over 600 young people, their families and local communities with the spectacular wildlife of the Tees Valley, and producing high quality artwork that will allow tots to grandparents to learn about and enjoy what natural wonders they have on their doorstep for years to come.

The programme started in May 2010 and has been a huge success, with over 125 pupils so far from 5 Tees Valley schools and many families being able to explore and learn about nature sites and the wildlife found there through fun arts activities such as animation, painting, drawing, sculpture and photography.

Terry, a Year 4 pupil from Gurney Pease School, Darlington said: “I enjoyed Green TV because we saw slugs and did animation with our photos on the floor with a background of grass and trees.
Green TV will see artists working alongside wildlife officers and teachers delivering a diverse range of exciting arts based activities engaging primary school pupils from Sacred Heart, Middlesbrough; Cockerton, Darlington; Bader, Thornaby; Westgarth, Marske and Golden Flatts, Hartlepool.

Activities and visits will take place at various locations across Tees Valley including RSPB Saltholme, Portrack Marsh Nature Reserve, North Gare & Seaton Dunes, Coatham Marsh Nature Reserve and South Burdon Community Forest.
