MEDIA RELEASE COURTESY OF: QUAD
The London Lesbian And Gay Film Festival returns to QUAD in Derby in September with four films being shown from Sunday 5th until Monday 27th September. There is an international theme with films from Argentina, Israel and America.
In Eyes Wide Open (12A with English subtitles), Aaron is a respectably married butcher in Jerusalem’s ultra-orthodox Jewish community and a dedicated father of four children. One day he meets a handsome young student and falls in love with him; and then starts to neglect his family and community life. Meanwhile, paralleling this relationship, a neighbouring shopkeeper persists in seeing a man of her own choosing, even though she's been promised by her father to another. Eventually, guilt, torment and pressure from the community will catch up with the doomed lovers, leading them to make radical decisions... Eyes Wide Open screens at QUAD on Sunday 5th & Monday 6th September.
The Fish Child (15 with English subtitles) is set in Argentina where Lala, the refined daughter of a prominent judge, lives in an exclusive neighborhood in Buenos Aires. Unbeknown to her family, she is having an illicit liason with the family’s maid and planning her escape. From the award winning director of XXY, The Fish Child is a crime thriller that dramatizes the complex social inequities in South America. The Fish Child screens at QUAD on Sunday 12th & Monday 13th September
Plan B (15 with English subtitles) also from Argentina, follows Bruno, whose attempts to win back his ex-girlfriend have so far proved unsuccessful. So he formulates a plan to befriend her current partner in an attempt to break-up the couple. As the friendship between the two boys develops, their relationship takes a detour that neither of them expected. Plan B screens at QUAD on Friday 17th & Monday 20th September
And Then Came Lola (15) is a comedy and an homage to hit film Run Lola Run. Photographer Lola has three chances to save both her girlfriend Casey's design career and Casey herself from the clutches of the rich and predatory Danielle, but only if she can make it across San Francisco in time. And Then Came Lola screens at QUAD on Saturday 25th & Monday 27th September
Tickets for screenings are £6.50 and £5.00 concessions. To book seats, please call QUAD Box office on: (01332) 290606. For more details please click here.
