There are limited places still available for half-term film screenings and workshops at QUAD, Derby.
There are still a few places left for some of the digital workshops and film screenings at QUAD over the February half-term.
There will also be digital workshops offering a unique chance to use the latest technology to learn a new creative skill. The workshops will take place daily from 10:15am to 12:45pm. Places for each of these workshops is £20 per person. All participating young people under the age of 11 years will require an adult to be present, tickets for these accompanying adult places are free. Places are limited and can to be booked through the QUAD Box office.
There are still places available for the following three digital workshops:
Fake Movie Posters workshop will take place on Tuesday 16th February at 10:15am – 12:45pm (suitable for 8 – 16 years). Fake Movie Posters offers a chance to create a unique movie poster with participants as ‘the star’ using green screen, photography and design software.
Cut-Out Animation workshop will take place on Wednesday 17th February, at 10:15am – 12:45pm (suitable for 8 – 16 years). Cut-Out Animation offers the chance to learn the basics of 2D animation and create a short animation using cut out images. Materials will be provided but students are welcome to bring their own magazines to use.
Garage Band – Music Production workshop will take place on Friday 19th February from 10:15am – 12:45pm (suitable for those aged 12 – 16 years). Garage Band – Music Production offers the chance to learn the basics of music production with Garage Band including using loops and samples.
Cine Kids family-focused film screenings of Alvin And The Chipmunks: The Squeakquel (U) during the February half-term have been a sell-out success with only limited places remaining for the screening on Thursday 18th February at 10:30am, all other screenings of the film have sold out.
There are still tickets available for the Cine Kids screening of Where The Wild Things Are (PG), the film based on Maurice Sendak’s classic children’s story back at QUAD by popular demand.
Where The Wild Things Are (PG) will screen on Friday 19th February at 10:30am, Saturday 20th February at 3:30pm and Sunday 21st February at 1:30pm. All tickets for Cine Kids screenings are £2:00 for Club members. Standard price tickets are £6:00 / £5.00 (£5.00 / £4.00 concessions).
To become a Cine Kids Club member for an annual fee of £10, please contact the QUAD Box office. Cine Kids screenings are open to all, children under 12 years must be accompanied by an adult.
For family audiences, there are also daily screenings of Ponyo (U) the brand new Studio Ghibli animated film at QUAD. Ponyo is the tale of a 5 year old boy and his friendship with a goldfish princess who longs to be human.
QUAD will be screening both subtitled and dubbed format of the film. Daytime screenings before 5:00pm will be in the dubbed version of the film, (featuring the voices of Liam Neeson, Cate Blanchett and Matt Damon), and tickets for the daytime screenings are £5.00 (£4.00 concessions). Please note this is not a Cine Kids film so Cine Kids Club ticket prices are not available.
Screenings after 6:00pm will be the subtitled version of the film, and tickets are £6:00 (£5.00 concessions). The screening of Ponyo (U) S on Tuesday 16th February at 6:15pm will be introduced by University Of Derby Animation lecturer Marc Bosward.
