Cult TV celebration at QUAD

Dr Who and an "alien"...  

TV2010 event at QUAD celebrates British cult television.

QUAD in Derby is holding a day celebrating the depth and diversity of British cult television with rare screenings of classic programmes and special guests from the golden age of cult television. The event, called TV 2010, will take place on Saturday 20th March from 10:00am until 10:00pm.

The special guests for the event have been announced as: Nicola Bryant (who played Peri in Doctor Who); Maurice Roeves (who played Stolz in Doctor Who: The Caves Of Androzani); Ruth Boswell (Writer and Producer of Timeslip, The Tomorrow People, Jukes Of Piccadilly); Steve Hardy & Andrew Thompson (both from Timeslip: Beyond The Barrier).

TV 2010 will run as three consecutive programmes in the morning, afternoon and evening.

The morning programme, The Saturday Morning Picture Show in which QUAD will recreate a Saturday Morning Picture Show complete with a Public Information shorts, a Children’s Film Foundation film and a screening of the feature film Thunderbirds Are Go! Ideal for families and children of all ages, The Saturday Morning Picture Show will run from 10:00am – 1:00pm and tickets are £6.00 (£5.00 concessions and QUAD members).

The afternoon programme will include The Lost Worlds Of ITV Children’s Drama, Timeslip: Beyond The Barrier and Television Rarities.

The Lost Worlds Of ITV Children’s Drama includes screenings of Ace Of Wands, Timeslip and the rarely seen Jukes Of Piccadilly (starring Nigel Hawthorne). Guests include Ruth Boswell, Steve Hardy, Andrew Thompson to discuss the past, present and future of children’s drama.

Timeslip: Beyond The Barrier is a regional premiere of the documentary (produced in Derby) about Timeslip, a rarely seen classic of children’s drama from 1970. The ATV series is explored in depth with interviews from Cheryl Burfield, Spencer Banks, Ruth Boswell, Iris Russell and Ian Fairbairn.

Television Rarities includes rare episodes of Counterstike and The Corridor People (described as David Lynch does The Avengers!)

The evening programme is Doctor Who: The Caves Of Androzani with special guests, actors Nicola Bryant (Peri) and Maurice Roeves (Stolz). All four parts of The Caves Of Androzani will be screened, taking place from 8:30pm until late, tickets for this evening event are: £9.00 (£8.00 concessions and QUAD members).

There is a ticket available for the whole day, including The Saturday Morning Picture Show and Doctor Who: The Caves of Androzani, priced at £25 (£22 concessions).
