Laughing Boy is a new, semi-scripted, semi-devised piece, which takes the young characters from William Shakespeare’s Hamlet – Hamlet, Horatio, Ophelia, and Laertes – and places them in the aftermath of an ambiguous apocalyptic event. Sheltering in an abandoned church, the four young people struggle both to survive and to respond to the crisis they are in. It is the first production by start-up company Perfect Shadow Mingled Yarn.
The piece will be devised in February and March 2012 and rehearsed in April for a production in London in May. The cast will work closely with the director to develop the piece throughout.
Due to demand, we have scheduled additional first round auditions, which will take place between 11am and 1pm on Wednesday 1st February in London. Auditionees are requested to prepare a two minute contemporary monologue of their own choice and one of a selection of short passages from Hamlet. Auditions will last 15 minutes. Second round auditions will be held between 1pm and 4pm that afternoon.
Please email auditions.psmy@gmail.com to arrange an audition.
Please be aware that this is an unpaid opportunity.
